The Somerset-Pulaski County Humane Society is an independent non-profit organization, incorporated in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The Society receives no government support, and is dependent solely upon donations for its financial support. There are no paid employees, as we depend entirely upon our dedicated volunteers for conducting the affairs of the Society.

Business is conducted by a Board of Directors, which meets at the Humane Society office on the second Thursday of each month. General membership meetings are held quarterly - in January, April, July and October. The annual meeting of the Society, with election of officers, takes place in April.

In order to achieve the goals of the Society, nine standing committees are in operation. These include:
