>>February 17, 2004... The February
spay/neuter clinic was held today at the new facility in Cundiff
Square, and was quite successful. Dr. David Mullins and Dr. Patty
Prather altered more than sixty dogs and cats, and were extremely
pleased with the facilities. Thanks to all the volunteers who worked
at the clinic. Without them, the clinic could not have taken place.
The date of the next clinic has not yet been determined. However, as
soon as a date is selected, it will be posted here on the website.
>>Feb 17, 2004...The Somerset-Pulaski County
Humane Society launched its new website in February. The site will
feature animals for adoption, lost and found listings and membership
applications. The Society hopes to continue to educate and inform
the community about animal cruelty, as a means of prevention.
>>February 12, 2004 - The Board of Directors
has approved the creation of a Feral Cat Committee. This committee
will be responsible for locating feral cat colonies within the
Pulaski County region, and for identifying a caregiver for each
colony. The cats will then be humanely trapped, so that they can be
spayed or neutered, and returned to their colonies.
Tito Castillo, a member of the Board of Directors,
has agreed to chair this committee. Already, several members have
signed up to work in this area. If you are interested in this
project, please contact Tito at 274-9021. Training will be provided,
and will begin in the near future. The Board has also authorized the
purchase of twenty traps for use in this endeavor.
