| Spay and Neuter Clinic
February 17, 2004 - The Humane Society now has a permanent
location for the spay/neuter clinics! Thanks to the generosity of
Phyllis Cundiff, the Society has free use of space in Cundiff Square
for three months, with the option for continued use on a
reduced-rent basis beyond that time. Because of the strong financial
support of the community, enough funds were available to provide the
equipment for a first-class facility.
A number of dedicated volunteers have worked diligently to assure
that the facility would be up and running in time for the February
clinic.
The new facility, located at 112 Cundiff Square, provides better
working conditions for the veterinarians, and allows the entire
operation to be conducted under one roof. It will no longer be
necessary to bring the mobile clinic here from Lexington, find a
location from which to operate it, and set up all of the equipment
each time it is to be used.
This represents just one more step along the road to progress for
your Humane Society!
Spaying is good for your pet: >Spaying and neutering
helps dogs and cats live longer, healthier lives. >Spaying
and neutering can eliminate or reduce the incidence of a number of
health problems that can be very difficult or expensive to treat.
>Spaying eliminates the possibility of uterine or ovarian
cancer and greatly reduces the incidence of breast cancer,
particularly when your pet is spayed before her first estrous cycle.
>Neutering eliminates testicular cancer and decreases the
incidence of prostate disease.
